ICT Research Featured in Several Publications

ICT has received press near and far:

The July/August 2010 issue of Tire Technology International features ICT’s research on wide-base tires. This research initiated by Professor Imad L. Al-Qadi a decade ago, and continued through support from the Illinois Center for Transportation (ICT) and NEXTRANS, has resulted in a breakthrough in understanding the impact of tire loading on pavements. The Summer 2010 issue of CEE Magazine, published by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, featured an article about ICT’s research on speed photo enforcement (pages 18-19). Click here to read the magazine.

The Rantoul Press reported on an ICT investigation of technological advancements in LED roadway lighting to determine applications where IDOT can reduce costs or improve lighting. The study, led by PI Ray Benekohal, will quantify the benefits and costs of using LED for roadway lighting and recommendations for where to use in Illinois. The field work for this project is being conducted near ATREL along Rantoul’s South Perimeter Road, and Benekohal worked with the village’s Public Works to set up the experiments.
