ICT Welcomes Two Research Engineers to its Staff

James Pforr joined ICT on January 16, 2012, as Research Engineer.  James received his B.S Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in December 2011. He worked as an undergrad with Professor Tutumluer on assembling the Large Scale Triaxial Tester as well as preparing and testing railroad ballast samples. James was on the Dean’s List at both Parkland College and the University of Illinois and was a top student at Fisher H.S. While a college student, James worked for ten months as an intern with Applied Pavement Technology conducting roadway and airfield pavement evaluation and working with AutoCAD and MicroPaver software.  In addition, James has eight years of experience as an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician and worked for two years in building materials. He also has his Advanced Engine Diagnostics Certification.

Aaron Coenen joined ICT on January 30, 2012, as Senior Research Engineer.  Aaron received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering & Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and, in August  2011, received his Ph.D. in CEE from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Prior to joining the ICT, Aaron worked as a Research Engineer & Teaching Assistant at the UW-Madison, 2008 – 2011, and as a Research/Teaching Assistant & Adjunct Lecturer at the UW-Milwaukee, 2006-2008.  His publications include: “Resilient Characteristics of Bottom Ash”, “Comparison of Bitumen Fatigue Testing Procedures Measured in Shear and Correlations with Four-Point Bending Mixture Fatigue”, “Materials Characterization and Analysis of the Marquette Interchange HMA Perpetual Pavement”, and “Aggregate Structure Characterization of Asphalt Mixtures Using Two-Dimensional Image Analysis.”  In addition, Aaron has conducted research on the use of crumb rubber in HMA, performed image and data analysis for 30 unique pavement layers on WisDOT HMA construction, and taught and developed instructional materials for an undergraduate construction materials course on both asphalt and PCC concrete mix design and testing. Aaron also has State of Wisconsin E.I.T Certification.
