Lori Carpenter, assistant to ICT director Imad Al-Qadi, began working at the Illinois Center for Transportation in April 2009. She is responsible for providing office management and support to the director and for maintaining the daily administrative needs of ICT. Carpenter also assists with the coordination of conferences, meetings, research projects, and several other events. In addition, she ensures the timely arrangement of meetings and dissemination of meetings agendas and minutes, oversees the recruitment and hiring process for academic professionals, and manages office and laboratory supply orders.
Carpenter says that she really likes the supportive teamwork environment of ICT. She also enjoys interacting with the graduate students, faculty, and coworkers. “The diversity of tasks I handle on a daily basis makes my job really enjoyable. Almost every day brings something new!” says Carpenter.
Before joining the staff at ICT, Carpenter worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and Institute for Genomic Biology.
