The facilities
that support the modeling efforts in transportation are among
the best available. Sophisticated state-of-the-art programs are
used for finite element modeling of pavement structures and material
behavior, discrete element particle models, traffic flow simulation
models, network optimization models, and digital image analysis
programs. These modeling programs are supported by computer networks
at the University which include the most current workstations.
Additionally, researchers have access to the supercomputers housed
at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA),
including IBM IA-32 clusters, the Teragrid facility, among others
that are available to support the large transportation networks,
and sophisticated materials modeling efforts. |
