Director's Welcome

Illinois is at the transportation crossroads of the nation. A significant percentage of the nation’s goods and people pass through our state every day. Our role as the nation’s transportation hub benefits the state’s economy, employment, mobility and much more.

Here at Illinois Center for Transportation we take that vital role seriously, ensuring our transportation facilities and systems are at peak efficiency. We’re leading the discovery, development and implementation of solutions that improve transportation safety, efficiency and sustainability.

Our role as a premier transportation research center is to address the urgent and evolving transportation needs of the state of Illinois, the country and the world.

The partnership between Illinois Department of Transportation and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign remarkably boosts this leadership. This collaboration allows both organizations to optimize resources, achieve distinction at both national and international levels, and ultimately better serve the state of Illinois and its citizens.
