Project Title:
Analysis of I-57 Recycled CRCP Cores (Special Project)
Start Date: 8/15/2008
End Date: 12/31/2008
Summary of Project:
Cores that were extracted from the Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) inlay by IDOT were analyzed for the presence of deleterious alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) to make an accurate assessment of the performance of this recycled concrete pavement. Independent analysis helped IDOT determine if there was deleterious ASR or an inadequate air void system in the recycled concrete experimental CRCP section on I-57.
Objective of Project:
The objective of this special study project is to have cores recently extracted from the CRCP inlay by IDOT analyzed for the presence of deleterious ASR by an independent laboratory in order to make an accurate assessment of the performance of this recycled concrete pavement.
Expected Outcome:
The expected outcome of this project is to determine if there is any deleterious ASR or inadequate air void system in the recycled concrete experimental CRCP section on I-57.
