Project Title:
Mechanistic-Empirical Design, Implementation & Monitoring for Flexible Pavements
Start Date: 7/1/2008
End Date: 6/30/2011
Summary of Project:
IDOT's full-depth HMA thickness design procedure was adopted in 1989. The HMA overlay thickness deign procedure for rubblized PCCP was formally adopted in 2001. Since the adoption of the procedures, the Best Demonstrated Available Technology (BDAT) has improved in many important areas. This project will update the procedures to reflect BDAT.
Objective of Project:
  * Develop (and justify) revised full-depth HMA pavement design procedure. * Review and revise rubblizing design HMA overlay design algorithm and develop revised rubblizing design procedure and justification. * Provide ad hoc consulting services related to full-depth HMA pavement designs, rubblizing designs, forensic investigations, as requested.
Expected Outcome:
Provide improved full-depth HMA design and rubblized PCCP HMA overlay thickness design procedures for the IL DOT.
