Investigators:
  Prof. Marshall R. Thompson (Primary)
Project Title:
Mechanistic-Empirical Design, Implementation & Monitoring for Flexible Pavements (Ended 6/08)
Start Date: 7/1/2005
End Date: 6/30/2008
Summary of Project:
Mechanistic-Empirical (M-E) -based flexible pavement design concepts and procedures were developed in previous IHR Projects (IHR-510 and IHR-527) and have been implemented by IDOT. IDOT continues to support a variety of M-E design, implementation and monitoring activities. This project enables University of Illinois staff to provide technical support and cooperate with IDOT in these activities.
Objective of Project:
Provide technical support and cooperate with IDOT concerning mechanistic-empirical design, implementation and monitoring of flexible pavements.
Expected Outcome:
Provide improved Mechanistic-Empirical flexible pavement design procedures for use by the IDOT Bureau of Design and Environment and the Bureau of Local Roads & Streets.
