ICT Has Strong Presence at ASCE Conference
The 2008 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) Pavement Specialty Conference on Airfield and Highway Pavements was held on October 15-18, 2008 in Bellevue, Washington, USA. The theme of the conference was Efficient Pavements Supporting Transportation's Future. ICT Director, Professor Imad Al-Qadi, was the conference chairman. Recent developments in pavement design, analysis, evaluation, rehabilitation, and emerging materials for highway and airfield pavements were presented in 60 technical presentations. Mr. Scott Murrell, Chief Engineer for of the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey, was the keynote speaker. ICT researcher, Dr. Jeffery Roesler, along with Dr. Hussain Bahia, Mr. Scott Murrell, and Dr. Al-Qadi compiled the conference proceeding, which contains 54 peer-reviewed papers. There were three pre-conference workshops on concrete basics for airfield pavements, the FAA proposed thickness design procedure FAARFIELD, and sustainable pavements. Technical site visits to the Seattle-Tacoma (SEA-TAC) Airport and to Boeing were offered during the conference. The conference was organized by ASCE and sponsored by Boeing, Burns & McDonnell, Center of Excellence for Airport Technology, CH2MHill, Crawford Murphy & Tilly, and URS.
