ICT Director Lectures at Universities in China

During the first week of May, Professor Al-Qadi and two students, Zhen Leng and Hao Wang, lectured at Southeast University and Harbin Institute of Technology in China. The group also visited Tongji University.

During their visit, Professor Al-Qadi lectured on several topics including advanced pavement modeling, reflective cracking, and advancements in ground penetrating radar (GPR). These topics have specific relevance to ICT project R58, Cost-Effectiveness & Performance of Overlay Systems / Crack Control Methods in IL, for which two volumes of final reports were recently published on the ICT website's Publications Page.

UIUC students Leng and Wang also lectured on GPR signal analysis and measurement of pavement response to loading.

During the visit Al-Qadi also discussed potential research collaboration with these top transportation research universities in China and met with fellow organizing committee members at Tongji University to prepare for the Geo-Shanghai 2010 conference.
