Special Joint Conference (Illinois Bituminous Paving and NCAUPG) Convenes in Springfield
The joint conference was held at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center where 259 registered attendees and 21 exhibitors met to share technical information and experiences pertaining to the asphalt industry.
As Chair of the Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference, ICT Director Imad Al-Qadi had a leading role in the special joint conference, serving as a moderator and a lecturer on Reflective Crack Control where he presented results from ICT project R58 (co-PI Bill Buttlar and co-author Jongeun Baek).
Several representatives from IDOT also contributed to the conference program, including Eric Harm (Welcoming Comments), Kevin Burke (Illinois Local Roads Update), Jim Trepanier (Illinois HMA Update), and Amy Schutzbach (Illinois Mechanistic Design Updates and Experiences). Dr. Marshall Thompson, UIUC Professor Emeritus from the Transportation Group, also spoke at the conference.
Additionally, the ICT participated in the Exhibitors Showcase portion of the conference and showed off its new exhibit displays.
The merging of these two great conference traditions made for a dynamic combination, and the attendees benefited from the wealth of information that was exchanged and dispersed. The speakers' presentations will be posted on the conference website at:
