ICT Welcomes Two New Staff Members
Joshua Houston is the new ICT Systems Engineer. Josh comes to ICT from the UIUC CEE Department, where he worked at Newmark as system engineer since 1999. He has already started helping ICT with some much needed technology upgrades, including moving the quarterly progress reporting for projects online and coordinating the addition of wireless networking at ATREL. Currently, he is upgrading the ICT computation servers, implementing online conference registration, and working to make short courses and seminars available online.
Jeffrey Kern is the new ICT Research Engineer. Jeff comes to ICT after over 10 years of experience as a Project Engineer with Engineering and Research International, Inc. (ERI). But Jeff is no stranger to ATREL; he was a graduate research assistant at the lab from 1996-1998. As Research Engineer, Jeff will manage technical testing and research equipment and laboratory facilities at ATREL. His responsibilities include determining and maintaining the equipment needs for experiment at ATREL and establishing and maintaining guidelines for safe laboratory practices and reliable test results. He will supervise the technical testing of pavement materials, set up equipment, and manage the testing facility.
