During Fall 2008, ICT-associated faculty presented their research, literally, around the world.

Al-Qadi in Qatar
ICT Director Imad Al-Qadi helped organize and gave a keynote address, "Towards Longer Lasting Pavements in the Gulf" at the 4th International Gulf Conference on Roads in Qatar on November 10-13, 2008. Click here for more information on Imad's trip to Qatar and lecture on Gulf pavements.

Roesler in Chile
Associate Director of ATREL Jeff Roesler traveled to Chile to present his research on Thin Concrete Pavements (TCP). TCPavements is the sponsor of his research and the seminar he attended. Click here for more information on Jeff's TCP project and associated trip to Chile.

Carpenter in China
Professor Emeritus and Associate Director of ICT Sam Carpenter was invited by Professor Huang, Xiaoming (pictured together in photo below) to give a series of lectures at Southeast University, in Nanjing, China in October 2008. Al-Qadi and Buttlar in Italy
Al-Qadi and Professor Bill Buttlar participated in the RILEM Reflective Cracking and Bituminous Committee in Cagliari, Italy. Earlier in 2008, Al-Qadi had assisted faculty and students at the University of Cagliari with the instrumentation of a new 2860 meter runway that will significantly expand the capacity of the Cagliari airport. This new runway was showcased to the participants of the RILEM committee during this visit.

Al-Qadi in Madrid, Spain
Al-Qadi also attended the The Third International Conference on Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) held on October 1-3, 2008, in Madrid, Spain. He taught a short course and presented three papers; one of which won one of the four best paper awards. The photo below shows (l to r) Professsor Ullitz, Robert E. Skinner, Jr. (TRB Executive Director), Al-Qadi, and Bouzid Chaubane (IDOT and TRB Accelerated Loading Committee). The Fourth International APT Conference will be jointly hosted by The University of California Pavement Research Center and the ICT in 2012.
