Ms. Heidi Howard is a Research Agronomist at US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research Development Center – Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL). Heidi has 15 years of experience working on erosion and sediment control for Military Lands. Her research has led to development of standard guidelines used for land management and construction on military ranges. Her research has focused on how to reduce impacts of training by incorporating vegetation best management practices for low-cost solutions. Most recently Heidi has been investigating the use composted mulches for erosion and sediment control. Heidi routinely develops specifications and design criteria and provides professional training for Military Land Managers.
Mr. Niels Svendsen is an Agricultural Engineer at US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research Development Center – Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL). His research over the last 14 years has been on improving management of Military Lands, specifically conserving critical lands for future training thru erosion and sediment control. Using his diverse engineering background, Niels has developed a range of tools to help Military Land Managers improve soil and water quality while optimizing the Soldier training experience. Niels routinely develops specifications and design criteria and provides professional training for Military Land Managers.
