Other attendees at the reception included Alex Kummant, President of Amtrak, Frank Busalacchi, the Wisconsin Secretary of Transportation, U.S. Congressman Spencer Bachus of Alabama, Jim Wrinn, Editor of Trains Magazine, and Don Phillips a regular columnist in Trains. The Hickory Creek is a private car that was leased for the occasion by several TRB attendees who used it to travel from NYC to DC and back, and stayed in the state rooms on board during the TRB Conference.
