Illinois Center for Transportation’s research projects range from theoretical to full-scale field-testing and evaluation of pavement, railroad and transportation systems. Our efforts not only produce top-quality graduates, but we also have an impact in our local and global communities.
ICT’s research is conducted by investigators at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as well as experts at other universities and research agencies across the country.

ICT, IDOT extend joint research program
Illinois Department of Transportation has extended a seven-year, $47 million agreement with Illinois Center for Transportation for their joint research program.
The one-year extension will boost their current contract to June 2024. During this period, ICT and IDOT will explore the latest transportation challenges in Illinois and beyond.
At the top of their list? Focusing on emerging transportation technologies to improve Illinois’ transportation network for all users.
