ICT bids farewell and good luck to Sarfraz Ahmed, who recently completed his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering with a focus on asphalt materials. His research interests include low temperature characterization of asphalt materials, pavement testing, and rehabilitation. Dr. Ahmed’s thesis is titled “Fracture Characterization of Thin Bonded Asphalt Concrete Overlay Systems.”
ATREL now houses a laboratory-scale foamed bitumen plant. The equipment can be used to investigate the foaming properties of different bitumen types at different temperatures and with various amounts of water and air to allow an optimum design of foamed bitumen.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announces the new offering of the master of science degree program online, beginning in fall 2011.
On June 20-22, 2012, the 7th RILEM International Conference on Cracking in Pavements will be organized in Delft, The Netherlands. The conference topics include, but are not limited to: detection, prediction, and mitigation of cracking in pavements
ICT recently had to say goodbye and good luck to Jonguen Baek, who moved back to Korea. He has taken a position as Research Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Sejong University.
