One of the leading pavement researchers and emeritus faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Michael Darter gave the Kent Lecture for March 3, 2015. The title of the talk was Mechanistic-Empirical Design of Pavements: The “Long and Winding Road.” Prof. Darter discussed the history of pavement design and used real world examples to show the importance of the proper integrating of on-the-ground measurements combined with experimental design principals. Afterward, Prof. Darter stayed to talk with graduate students in a small group session. The small group session will be a regular feature and grad students are encouraged to attend both.
Kent lectures take place every Thursday at 1:00 pm at the ICT offices in Rantoul. Free pizza is available for attendees. You may also join the conference remotely. Email Lori Heinz to be added to the notification list.
