The College of Engineering recently selected Zhen Leng, a PhD student in transportation engineering advised by Dr. Al-Qadi, to receive the Mavis Future Faculty Fellows Award for Doctoral Students (MF3).
The MF3 Program provides opportunity for doctoral students interested in teaching engineering to gain experience in the focus areas of research, teaching, and mentoring.
The MF3 Program is made possible by a generous bequest of Frederic T. and Edith F. Mavis. Dr. Mavis received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois. He was a professor of civil engineering at several universities and was dean of engineering at the University of Maryland from 1957 until 1967. He died in 1983.
