Angeli Jayme, Illinois Center for Transportation research scientist, received the American Society of Civil Engineers Transportation & Development Institute’s 2023 T&DI Outstanding Younger Member Award on January 12.
ASCE T&DI awards the honor annually to young professionals who have made outstanding advancements in their field and to ASCE as well as displayed leadership by mentoring younger members.
Jayme conducts research related to transportation engineering at ICT, with a focus on pavement engineering, asphalt materials, sustainable infrastructure and smart mobility.
She is also a member of the team working to develop the Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track, a proposed high-speed test track for connected, autonomous and electrified vehicles in Rantoul, Illinois.
Her efforts at ICT involve working closely with the center’s graduate students and serving as a research mentor.
“I am deeply honored, humbled and beyond appreciative of such acknowledgement from the transportation industry,” Jayme said. “Although my roots in ASCE started in the concrete canoe competition during undergrad, I have become drawn to asphalt pavements and transportation infrastructure research.”
“I look forward to continuing to work with ASCE as I embark further in my career,” she added.
She serves as the Vice-Chair of the ASCE T&DI Highway Pavement Committee, who issued the award nomination for Jayme.
Jayme will receive the award at the 2024 ASCE International Conference on Transportation & Development on June 15-18.
