Lab safety a priority at ATREL

Lab safety is an integral aspect of the research conducted at ATREL. Anyone conducting testing at ATREL must follow established safety guidelines and be certified to use each type of equipment.

As part of the committment to safety, members of the Urbana Fire Department recently visited ATREL to give ICT students and staff a refresher on how to best prevent laboratory and office fires and how to appropriately respond if a fire does occur. ICT students and staff were then able to put their knowledge to the test by using a fire extinguisher to put out a simulated fire, which was controlled by fire department representatives.
