ICT welcomes new staff members

David Lippert, senior sustainability implementation engineer for ICT, will be responsible for preparing guidelines, policies, procedures, manuals, and specifications for IDOT based on the deliverables of the sustainable research projects conducted at ICT.

He will also be making cases for budget initiatives and other actions necessary to adopt research outcomes. In this position, which serves as a liaison between researchers and practitioners, Lippert will be spending 20 percent of his work time at ATREL and 80 percent at IDOT’s Bureau of Materials and Physical Research (BMPR), where he worked for 29 years before retiring in December 2013. Lippert holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in arts and sciences from Western Illinois University.

Greg Renshaw, research engineer, will be assisting with various ICT research projects, conducting lab and field experiments, determining and maintaining equipment needs for experiments, and training researchers and students on testing and design procedures for safe lab practices and reliable test results.  In addition, Greg will serve as the new coordinator and lead instructor for the Documentation of Contract Quantities classes. Renshaw brings to ICT 21 years of professional experience and a breadth of expertise in engineering consulting services. He has provided geotechnical engineering, materials testing and inspection, and environmental engineering services to various firms in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin.  A registered Professional Engineer in Illinois and Michigan, Renshaw holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, both in civil engineering.
