ICT celebrates successful year

In December 2013, ICT researchers, staff, graduate students, and families came together to celebrate the achievements of the year and enjoy one another’s company as the semester came to an end. ICT director Imad Al-Qadi introduced new staff members and highlighted student achievements for the year. Highlights included:

  • Ibrahim Abuawad—Recipient of AAAEA 2013 Scholar Award
  • Angeli Gamez—Women’s Transportation Seminar Foundation’s Helene Overly Memorial Scholarship
  • Salman Hakimzadeh—AAPT Scholarship
  • Jaime Hernandez—Transportation Research Board’s 2013–14 Graduate Research Award Program on Public-Sector Aviation Issues, from the Airport Cooperative Research Program
  • Brian Hill—AAPT Scholarship and Bituminous Student Award
  • Daniel King—CEE Department Graduate Fellowship
  • Yu Qian—Geosynthetic Institute Fellowship and Yee Memorial Fund Fellowship
  • Sushobhan Sen—Kinra Fellowship
  • Pengcheng Shangguan—Grant Shaw Memorial Scholarship from the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers; 1st place in the poster competition at the 3rd Annual Workshop of the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals; and runner-up in the poster competition at the 2nd International Transportation Doctoral Symposium in 2013
