2/1/2014

On December 2, 2013, leaders from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) came to ICT’s headquarters at the Advanced Transportation Research and Engineering Lab (ATREL) in Rantoul, Illinois. The purpose of the visit was to give an overview of ICT’s IDOT-funded research programs to newly appointed FHWA Illinois Division Administrator Kay Batey and IDOT Division of Highways Director Omer Osman.

During the tour, ICT graduate students explained how they use various equipment at ATREL to conduct their research. In addition to ATREL, the group visited the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s Newmark and Hydrology Engineering Laboratories. They also toured the Erosion Control Research and Training Center, which was developed as part of project R27-054, “Stormwater Pollution, Erosion, and Sediment Control Products Demonstration and Training Center,” which was sponsored by IDOT.
