Peggy Currid receives CEE Staff Award for Excellence
2/1/2016
Peggy Currid, Technical Communications Specialist at ICT, was recently awarded the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Staff Award for Excellence (2015). Peggy has been on staff at ICT since April 2012, and in this position, she edits technical reports to ensure that they meet quality standards for scientific/technical writing. She is part of ICT’s project management group, which oversees the ICT research program.
The award, which recognizes outstanding performance and demonstrated professional excellence by members of the support staff of the University of Illinois’ Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was presented at the department’s annual faculty and staff recognition reception on November 11.
“The staff excellence award is quite an honor,” Peggy says, “…and a pleasant surprise. Like most editors, my work is behind the scenes, so I especially appreciate being recognized by my colleagues.”
Before joining the staff at ICT, Currid held various freelance and staff jobs, including senior editor at Research Press and editorial and production manager for the International Society of Arboriculture, both in Champaign.
Peggy’s contributions have been appreciated by her colleagues, and ICT researchers and sponsors. “Peggy has raised the bar in the editing process and the quality of ICT reports. We are very fortunate to have her as part of the ICT family,” says ICT Director Imad Al-Qadi.
According to Peggy’s supervisor, Kristi Anderson, Peggy’s experience in her field, her dedication to her work, and her desire to produce error-free publications make her an appreciated and respected asset among her peers and a pleasure to work with.
Please join ICT in congratulating Peggy Currid for winning the Staff Award for Excellence. She was truly deserving of the honor!
