Kent Seminar Series update

2/1/2017

The first half of the 2016–17 Kent Seminar series was completed December 1, with a presentation by UIUC graduate student Issam Qamhia speaking on the topic of sustainable aggregates. Qamhia’s presentation was one of many by students and outside speakers that comprise the ongoing Kent Seminar series.

This semester featured a diverse array of transportation topics, including the following:

  • Soheil Nazarian (professor, University of Texas at El Paso) on performance management in pavement construction quality acceptance
  • Zhanping You (professor, Michigan Tech) on multiscale modeling and sustainable pavement systems
  • Seunggu Kang (graduate student, CEE at Illinois) on developing mechanistic vehicle models to evaluate fuel consumption related to rough roads
  • Shiraz Tayabji (Applied Research Associates) on rehabilitating high-volume roadways with precast concrete slabs

This season, the Kent series switched from GoToMeeting to YouTube Live. A new format that anyone can view, YouTube Live is easy to use and features a chat box to communicate with ICT personnel to ask questions and participate. YouTube Live’s chat feature requires a YouTube login, which is free to sign up for. Go to ict.illinois.edu the day of the presentation (every Thursday during the academic semester, at 12:30 p.m.) for the YouTube Live link for that day’s talk and for more information on upcoming talks for the spring semester. You can also visit the Kent Seminar Series Video Archive to see past presentations.
