Kent Seminar kicks off spring series

The spring season of the Kent Seminar Series will kick off Feb. 7, 2019.

Later in the semester, the following guests will present their latest research findings:

  • Kerrie Schattler, Bradley University
  • Dan Zollinger, Texas A&M
  • Geoffrey Rowe, Abatech
  • Luis G. Loría-Salazar, University of Costa Rica

The first half of the 2018–2019 Kent Seminar Series wrapped up on December 6 with a presentation by UIUC doctoral student Erman Gungor. Gungor lectured on, “Leveraging Autonomy in Truck Platooning to Improve Freight Transportation Sustainability.”

All lectures are broadcast live on YouTube and include real-time, interactive participation by attendees joining the lectures remotely. Lecture attendees and those who access the lecture online can earn Professional Development Hours or Continuing Education Units. This opportunity is available to attendees who wish to attend Kent seminars either in person or online.

The Kent Seminar Series is sponsored by the Paul F. Kent Memorial Fund, established in 1977 to support education in transportation engineering. Kent, was a 1920 UIUC graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering. Throughout his professional career, he expressed the highest regard and great esteem for the education in civil engineering he received at the University of Illinois. Kent dedicated himself to civic service in Illinois and surrounding states. He was the founder and president of the University of Illinois Civil Engineering Alumni Association, and was the recipient of the U of I Loyalty Award and the Civil Engineering Distinguished Alumnus Award.
