The award, which recognizes outstanding performance and demonstrated professional excellence by support staff members of the University of Illinois’ Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was presented at CEE’s Annual Faculty and Staff Recognition Reception on November 2nd.

Senior Research Engineer Greg Renshaw took home one of the coveted plaques. Renshaw is often seen donning a white lab coat while conducting technical experiments at the Advanced Transportation Research and Engineering Laboratory. He also trains researchers and students on testing design procedures and instructs the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Documentation of Contract Quantities workshop.

“I am not a spotlight person. However, most everyone appreciates hearing from others that they are performing at a high level and that their efforts are truly appreciated,” Renshaw said. “I was very surprised and grateful for the recognition of my efforts. A single person can make a difference, but it takes a team of dedicated people to make that difference meaningful on a larger scale. ICT has a great team of dedicated people, and together, we make a huge impact.”

Before coming to ICT in 2014, Renshaw held the position of senior geotechnical engineer at GEOCON Professional Services, LLC. Prior to that, he was branch manager at Midwest Engineering Services, Inc. Renshaw holds a Master and Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

ICT Senior Financial Operations Manager, Kristi Anderson, was also recognized for the impact she has made on ICT. She supervises the ICT project management team, administers research projects, manages ICT’s sponsored research process, develops financial procedures and controls, and assists with negotiations of the multimillion-dollar ICT-IDOT Intergovernmental Agreement, among other tasks.

“It’s such an honor to receive this award! Having my contributions recognized and appreciated by my colleagues is very rewarding,” Anderson said.

Anderson came to ICT five years ago from Afni, Incorporated, where she was a lead financial analyst. Prior to that, she was a global learning and development project coordinator at Archer Daniels Midland. She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Illinois State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois–Springfield.

As part of their recognition, both Renshaw’s and Anderson’s names are now inscribed on a separate plaque displayed in the North Crane Bay of Newmark Lab on campus.
