Registration is underway for the upcoming Erosion and Sediment Control Workshop.

Here Illinois Department of Transportation and local agency staffers learn how to deal with Mother Nature’s conditions and gain certification by attending the three-module course.

The bustling 2019 season trained approximately 350 professionals.

Workshop participants earn 7 ½ professional development hours for modules I and II, respectively, and eight for module III.

The spring session kicks off in March and wraps up in May. Courses resume in the fall, beginning in September and capping off in October.

Before class is back in session, let’s recap what each module has to offer:

Module I

Here attendees will learn the fundamentals of storm water pollution and erosion as well as sediment control. This course also teaches attendees the fundamentals of hydrology and social erosion as well as regulations, best management practices, and inspection of erosion and sediment control.

This class takes place at the I Hotel in Champaign, Illinois.

Module II

Module II provides knowledge of erosion and sediment control planning. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the development of a storm water pollution-prevention plan narrative.

This course will be held at the University of Illinois Springfield.

Module III

This workshop not only provides attendees with the ins and outs of erosion and sediment control best practices and regulatory requirements for the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System requirements for ILR40 and ILR10 compliance, but it also shows participants how to identify proper installation and maintenance of storm water best management practices and maintenance requirements. Attendees will also experience the proper field guide for a construction inspection.

This workshop occurs at the Erosion and Sediment Control Training Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Attendees should also note that completion of module I is required prior to taking modules II or III. Modules II and III need not be taken in numerical order.
