ICT bids farewell to Aaron Coenen

5/1/2015

It is with sadness that ICT bids goodbye to senior research engineer Aaron Coenen, who has accepted a private consulting job in his native Wisconsin, where he will work closely with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Coenen first joined ICT in January 2012 as a research engineer and served as co-principal investigator for project R27-44-T1, “IDOT Pavement Design Course Development,” as well as coordinating field sampling and testing apparatus modification for project R27-100, “Best Practices for Implementation of Tack Coat.”

He holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and M.S. and B.S. degrees in civil engineering and mechanics from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Before coming to ICT, he worked as a research engineer and teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He has an Engineer-in-Training certification from Wisconsin.

About his departure from ICT, Coenen had this to say, “[ICT] is a place that I will never forget.  The group of people—faculty, staff, and students—is what makes this place what it is to so many.  I want to personally thank each and every one of you, as you really have become like family.”

Coenen was a valuable member of the ICT community and will be difficult to replace. We at ICT would like to wish him great success as he moves forward in his career.
