ICT training programs wrap up spring season

5/1/2017

The Illinois Center for Transpiration (ICT) completed another season of the Documentation of Contract Quantities training in late April. In addition, the spring workshops of Erosion and Sediment Control training will conclude May 4th.  Both of these workshops are offered to construction inspectors interested in providing services to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). A total of 682 engineers received documentation training this year, and approximately 120 became certified in Erosion and Sediment Control.

To qualify to work on an IDOT project, a consultant must have working knowledge of IDOT specifications and documentation procedures for the inspection of work and a current certificate for successful completion of the Documentation of Contract Quantities class administrated by ICT. This training opportunity provides engineers with the ability to document contract quantities in compliance with state and federal standards and to make timely and accurate payment to contractors. It also serves as a project management tool for IDOT Resident Engineers.

For those working on projects requiring IDOT’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, the Erosion and Sediment Control workshop gives an overview of best practices in erosion control, with an emphasis on either design or inspection.

Preparations for the next season of documentation classes are already in full swing, with the new schedule expected in October.
