Several Illinois Center for Transportation investigators and students have recently been recognized for their academic and research efforts:

  • Student Erman Gungor was selected as one of the Mavis Future Faculty Fellows (MF3) for the 2018-2019 academic year. This program is designed to facilitate the training for the next generation of great engineering professors. There are three main components to the MF3 Academy: teaching, research, and service. Erman is focusing his doctoral research on the quantification of the impact of autonomous trucks on pavement structures and on how the autopilot technology in truck platooning can be leveraged to improve pavement conditions. Kudos to Erman’s advisor, Professor Imad Al-Qadi, for this great recognition!
  • Student Uthman Mohammed-Ali received a 2018 Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association scholarship. Uthman is pursuing a master’s degree in civil engineering under the supervision of Professor Imad Al-Qadi. His research focuses on asphalt materials characterization.
  • University of Illinois Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Timothy Stark was selected as the 2017 American Society of Civil Engineers Outstanding Reviewer by the Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution in Engineering and Construction.
  • Illinois Center for Transportation and Illinois Department of Transportation's joint project R27-SP28: Evaluation of PG Graded Asphalts with Low Levels of ReOB and Project R27-162: Chemical and Compositional Characterization of Recycled Binders were selected for the “2018 High Impact Research” award. The projects teams included graduate students  Jing Ma and Punit Singhvi.
