Highlighted speaker
Luis Loría-Salazar, a University of Costa Rica professor, was this year’s Kent Seminar Series highlighted speaker. Loría-Salazar earned his civil engineering bachelor’s degree at the University of Costa Rica in 1998, and went on to obtain his master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Nevada-Reno in 2007 and 2011, respectively. In 2014, he earned the rank of professor at the University of Costa Rica.
In addition to his teaching duties, Loría-Salazar researches pavement design, science of materials, technical specifications, and quality control methods for road projects at the National Laboratory of Testing Materials and Structural Models. In January, Loría-Salazar assumed vice presidency of the International Society for Asphalt Pavements.
