University of Illinois, National Taiwan University blossoming collaborative relationship

It’s not every day international leaders in academia have a meeting of the minds, but when they do it’s for good reason.

Earlier in March, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign delegates, including Chancellor Robert Jones, Provost Andreas Cangellaris, Dean Rashid Bashir, Illinois Center for Transportation Director and UIUC Bliss Professor of Engineering Imad Al-Qadi, College of Electrical and Computer Engineering professors Roy Campbell and Sayan Mitra, and College of Mechanical Science and Engineering Professor Placid Ferreira, took a special trip to Taipei, Taiwan.

Here the delegates visited National Taiwan University to discuss ongoing collaboration and future joint ventures.

According to Al-Qadi, the most impressive portion of the visit was touring the new NTU Cancer Center, set to open in July.

ICT’s most recent involvement with NTU, prior to the March visit, entailed a 2018 NTU-UIUC Forum on Smart Mobility, Autonomous, and Connected Vehicles.
