New ICT-IDOT projects, report

Illinois Center for Transportation and Illinois Department of Transportation are pleased to announce newly approved research projects and proposals as well as a recently published report.

The two entities approved the following projects:

  • “R27-213: “Reducing Concrete Cure Times Based on a Quantitative Assessment of Resistivity and Porosity”
  • “R27-214: 3D Image Analysis Using Deep Learning for Size and Shape Characterization of Stockpile Riprap Aggregates — Phase 2”
  • “R27-215: Analyzing the Impacts of a Successful Diffusion of Shared E-scooters and Other Micromobility Devices and Efficient Management Strategies for Successful Operations in Illinois”
  • “R27-216: Evaluating the Use of Locally Available Aggregate for Stone Matrix Asphalt”
  • “R27-217: Taxation of Ridesharing”
  • “R27-218: Railroad-highway Crossing Safety Improvement Evaluation and Prioritization Tool”

They also solicited proposals for the following projects:

  • “RFP 20-01: Influence of Field-curing Conditions on Strength of Concrete Test Specimens”
  • “RFP 20-02: Developing Scour-depth Estimation Using the In-situ Scour Testing Device for Illinois Cohesive Soils”
  • “RFP 20-03: Chip-seal Quality Assurance Using Percent Embedment”
  • “RFP 20-04: Evaluating IDOT’s Community Impact Assessment Manual to Determine Socioeconomic Impacts of Projects”
  • “RFP 20-05: Crash Modification Factors for Contrast Pavement Marking on Light-colored Pavement”
  • “RFP 20-06: Determining the Effectiveness of Bridge Deck Crack-sealing Systems”
  • “RFP 20-07: Strength and Serviceability of Damaged Steel Girders”
  • “RFP 20-08: Residual Capacity of Precast, Prestressed Concrete Deck Beams with Transverse Cracks”

ICT is excited to announce the publication of the following IDOT-sponsored project:

  • R27-SP40: Distracted Driving: A Literature Review”Here researchers determined the best ways to address distracted driving by examining the relationship between distracted driving and crashes as well as driver behaviors and many other factors.
