2014-15 Erosion Control Workshop schedule

The first full season of ICT’s Erosion and Sediment Control Training modules is wrapping up. The schedule for 2014–2015 and online registration will soon be available on the ICT website.

The Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Bureau of Design and Environment issued policy D&E-23 regarding erosion and sediment control training. Beginning January 1, 2015, engineering consultants with projects subject to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits must meet requirements for IDOT’s erosion and sediment control training. Specific requirements for design consultants and construction inspection consultants and for IDOT Division of Highway, Division of Aeronautics, and Division of Public and Intermodal Transportation employees are defined in the policy.

IDOT and ICT worked together to develop the training modules as part of IDOT/ICT project R27-054: Stormwater Pollution, Erosion, and Sediment Control Products Demonstration and Training Center. In addition to the classes, the project also established the Erosion Control Research and Training Center on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
