New research reports available on ICT website

With IDOT’s continuing support, the following reports were recently published on the ICT website.

R27-095Field Evaluation of Smart Sensor Vehicle Detectors at Railroad Grade Crossings, Volume 3: Performance in Favorable Weather Conditions. Principal investigators were Juan Medina and Rahim Benekohal of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

R27-105Ultimate Pier and Contraction Scour Prediction in Cohesive Soils at Selected Bridges in Illinois. Principal investigators were Timothy Straub, Thomas Over, and Marian Domanski of the U.S. Geological Survey.

R27-108: Improving the Effectiveness of Nighttime Temporary Traffic Control Warning Devices, Volume 1: Evaluation of Lights on Nighttime Work Zone Channelization Devices. Principal investigators were Douglas Steele, Jessica Marcon Zabecki, and Laura Zimmerman of Applied Research Associates, Inc. A second volume, on the use of mobile warning lights in nighttime work zones, will be available soon.

R27-113Modeling Seniors’ Activity Travel Data. Principal investigators were Kouros Mohammadian, Behzad Karimi, Zahra Pourabdollahi, and Martina Frignani of the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Also, with support from Iowa State University, a report titled Effects of a Nonuniform Subgrade Support on the Responses of Concrete Pavement was recently published on the ICT website. Principal investigators were Alexander Brand, Jeffery Roesler, and Hemant Chavan of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Francisco Evangelista Jr. of the University of Brasilia, Brazil.
