The following reports from recently completed IDOT-sponsored projects are available on ICT’s website.
- R27-061: Structural Performance of Ultra-Thin Whitetopping on Illinois Roadways and Parking Lots. Researchers assessed the performance of ultra-thin whitetopping pavements in Illinois in order to evaluate current design procedures and determine design life criteria for future projects.
- R27-118: Development of a Highway Incident Management Operational and Training Guide: Phase II. Online training modules for emergency responders were developed to supplement the in-class training developed in the first phase of this project. This report discusses the development of the online training course and outlines the content and user interface for the 11 modules.
- R27-122: Improved Design for Driven Piles Based on a Pile Load Test Program in Illinois, Phase 2. The objective of this project was to improve the design of driven piling in Illinois to reduce the risk of damage during installation.
- R27-126: Temporary Stabilization Specification Improvements. The purpose of this project was to develop temporary seeding recommendations to reflect seeding date and site location with the goal of improving vegetative establishment during IDOT construction activities.
- R27-160: Illinois Highway Materials Sustainability Efforts of 2013. This report presents the sustainability efforts of the Illinois Department of Transportation in recycling and reclaiming materials for use in highway construction.
In addition, a report titled Concrete with Steel Furnace Slag and Fractionated Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement, conducted on behalf of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, is now available online. The focus of the study was the potential use of coarse fractionated reclaimed asphalt pavement with steel furnace slag aggregates as a partial replacement for the coarse aggregate in concrete.
