11/1/2017

Transportation engineering Ph.D. students Izak Said and Angeli Gamez have recently received the Airport Cooperative Research Program Graduate Research Award for the academic year 2017-2018. Izak’s research proposal that earned him the award focuses on the development of a framework which allows for a holistic evaluation of airport pavements based on structural and environmental performance. Angeli’s research seeks to quantify the near-surface response of airfield pavements as a result of aircraft tire turning conditions using advanced numerical modeling.

Each of the doctoral candidates received a $10,000 stipend for conducting their research on airport pavements.
