Tour the ICT Labs

Have you ever wanted to see what a world-class research laboratory looks like? The Illinois Center for Transportation (ICT) would like to invite you for a tour of our labs from wherever you are. The idea behind this 3D tour is to give more people an opportunity to see what ICT has to offer behind its doors. Just click on our building below to come inside!

The online tour takes you on a detailed journey of the laboratory spaces in ICT’s main building. Inside these laboratories, researchers and engineers test soils, aggregates, bituminous materials, hot-mix-asphalt (HMA) materials, concrete materials, binders, polymerized binders, and other transportation evolving materials.

Discover ICT Industry Affiliates

The new virtual tour is launched at the same time as our new program, ICT Industry Affiliates or ICT-IA. The mission of ICT-IA is to combine the common interests of academia, agencies, and industry with implementable research and best practices, and provide world-class standard and advanced research testing to the industry.

Through outreach activities— such as webinars, hands-on training, and periodic roundtable discussions— ICT already provides a platform for the industry to discuss and tackle current issues, search out engineered solutions, and become equipped with the tools to advance the quality of transportation infrastructure.

The new virtual tour of the ICT laboratory just offers another look at the scope and magnitude of the resources and equipment available to ICT research engineers.

ICT-IA is bringing these world-class capabilities to the industry in the form of an a la cart testing service. ICT-IA also offers these services to members of the industry that do not have access to independent and impartial testing services in their geographic area. From established test methods to design of custom protocols, the ICT-IA engineers have the experience, equipment, and ingenuity to meet the needs of the industry.

The ICT laboratory is accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and certified by the Illinois Department of Transportation. For more information contact ICT Senior Research Engineer Greg Renshaw at ictengineers@illinois.edu.
