We’re almost there: Register for the 66th Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference

Illinois Center for Transportation is gearing up for the 66th Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference, set for December 9-10, at the I Hotel and Conference Center, in Champaign, Illinois.

With more than six decades of tradition, the Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference brings together over 350 transportation professionals, researchers and practitioners to advance the state of hot-mix asphalt construction.

This year’s theme, “Safe and Resilient Pavements,” highlights innovations that make roads more durable, efficient and sustainable.

The event opens December 9 with a technical workshop on “Flexible Pavement Smoothness: Construction, Performance, Measurements and Rolling Resistance.” Presenters include Bill Pine of Heritage Group, Hyung Lee of Applied Research Associates, John Senger of Illinois Department of Transportation, and Imad Al-Qadi of ICT.

On December 10, conference chair Al-Qadi will deliver welcoming remarks, followed by updates from government transportation agencies.

Sigurður Erlingsson of VTI – The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, Linköping, Sweden; KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden; and the University of Iceland, Reykjavik, Iceland, will deliver the keynote address, “Towards Zero Emission Road Construction — The Use of Recycled Materials in Pavement Structures.”

Following the lunch awards ceremony, speakers from University of Illinois, ICT, IDOT and MTE Services will lead sessions on modified binders, extended-life HMA sections, and binder recovery, followed by IDOT’s HMA Technical Update and closing remarks from ICT Director Imad Al-Qadi.
