67th Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference set for Dec. 8-9, 2026

Illinois Center for Transportation will host the 67th Illinois Bituminous Paving Conference on Dec. 8-9, 2026, at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign, Illinois.

This annual conference brings together transportation officials, industry leaders, researchers, contractors and pavement professionals to discuss emerging technologies, advances in asphalt materials and evolving practices in roadway construction.

Building on a long-standing tradition of knowledge sharing and industry collaboration, the conference will feature presentations on asphalt pavement design, construction methods, material performance, sustainability and the technologies shaping the future of highway infrastructure. The event will kick off on Dec. 8 with a workshop on “Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs): Upcoming IDOT Specifications, Current Progress, and Stakeholders’ Feedback,” followed by an evening reception from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dec. 9 will feature a full day of technical presentations and discussions. Imad Al-Qadi, ICT director and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Grainger Distinguished Chair in Engineering, will provide welcoming remarks, followed by updates from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Tollway.

Malcolm Simms, MPA Asphalt director, will deliver the keynote presentation “Warm-Mix Asphalt in Europe: Performance, Experience, and Lessons Learned.” He will highlight the European experience with warm-mix asphalt, examining performance, practical applications and lessons that may inform asphalt pavement practices in the United States.

The conference will also honor individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to pavement engineering research, with an award of $500 in recognition of their achievements. Submit award nominations on ICT’s website.
