Join Kelsey Owens, U.S. Department of Transportation environmental protection specialist, as she presents via Zoom at the Fall 2024 Kent Seminar Series Thursday, September 5, from 2-3 p.m. (CT).

Abstract: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included a historic $7.5 billion investment for a national electric vehicle network. Owens will discuss the progress, successes, challenges and next steps in implementing the $2.5 billion Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program and the $5 billion National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program to deploy EV chargers both in communities and along our national highway system in support of President Biden’s goals of building a national network of 500,000 public EV charging stations and halving national greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Bio: Owens is an environmental protection specialist for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary of Transportation’s Office of Policy. She specializes in transportation electrification and environmental justice. Owens holds a Master of Public Affairs and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Indiana University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University.
