Data reduction, analysis and sensor survivability studies on a "smart" runway

Join Deb Mishra, associate professor at Oklahoma State University, as he presents via Zoom at the Spring 2023 Kent Seminar Series Thursday, February 2, from 2-3 p.m. (CT).

This semester we honor the legacy of Paul Kent with a special alumni series. All speakers are faculty members or graduates from UIUC’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Pizza and soft drinks will be provided beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the ICT Classroom. 

All presentations will be held on Zoom, but some speakers will present in person at ICT.

A “smart” runway is a fully instrumented runway section to monitor the long-term response and performance of airfield pavements under multi-wheel heavy gear load aircraft and environmental loading. The Engineer Research and Development Center of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a “smart” runway in Utah that has been in service for more than three years. Mishra will discuss data reduction, analysis and sensor survivability studies focused on this “smart” runway.
